ABOUT THE CLPNA
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is a non-profit, non-government, regulatory organization. CLPNA exists to protect Alberta healthcare users. Our first responsibility is to the public. We regulate the profession of Licensed Practical Nurses, setting and maintaining standards to ensure the public receives safe, competent, and ethical healthcare services. This is a full-time temporary one-year appointment.
THE ROLE
The Director of Communications is responsible for leading a team of communications staff and contractors to develop, implement and evaluate communications strategy to ensure relevant and timely information is available for stakeholders. Reporting to the Executive Officer, this position is responsible for developing innovative and integrated communications that translates key priorities within the CLPNA to useful, engaging information. The Director manages internal and external communications, ensuring consistency and regulatory alignment, ensuring messages build on the positive regulatory reputation with the public, the health professions, and other stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, implements and updates communication strategies, policies and techniques that advance the organization’s ability to effectively communicate with targeted audiences
- Oversees brand management and creative development of branded content to ensure that the CLPNA brand is current and relevant
- Manages communications, marketing and public/media relations, ensuring communications are proactive, responsive and support regulation
- Supports the organization in communication messaging, and plans for and executes crisis communications, anticipating, preventing and responding to complex issues and urgent needs
- Establishes criteria and measures the effectiveness of the department’s strategic plan and implements a quality assurance process by establishing policies and processes that outline requirements
- Acts as Editor in Chief of all organizational publications, including quarterly magazines and annual reports and websites, social media, etc., including assigning appropriate staffing and budgetary resources
- Leads and participates in events, including planning, sponsorship management, implementation and evaluation
