In this newly created role, the Web Communications Content Management Officer will manage and lead the content migration of FNHA’s external and internal website to new and upgraded platforms. You will provide advice to management on website governance and content strategy, develop and deploys a governance approach for content acquisition and archiving. You will be an integral partner and work collaboratively with various FNHA program areas to identify and develop communication content and tools, and ensure a consistent and logical website architecture.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads content migration from existing external and internal websites to new and upgraded platforms

  • Provides advice to management on website governance and content strategy

  • Meets with various FNHA program areas and content leads to identify and gather detailed requirements for the development of communication content and tools. Develops and implements comprehensive process to review, assess, retire, and rewrite content

  • Develops and documents processes and guidelines to assist the team on service delivery and engagement with internal clients.  Hosts focus groups with relevant stakeholders to improve client experience on various websites and platforms.  

  • Undertakes extensive copywriting to ensure a consistent voice, aligned with cultural First Nations values, across the websites and sharing platforms.  

  • Ensures a consistent brand look and feel across the website by promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout. 

  • Ensures consistent and logical website architecture. Works with various vendors and internal stakeholders to identify technical aspects.

  • Develops and deploy a governance approach for content acquisition and archiving. Develops processes, standards, and guidelines for content.

  • Mediates competing interests from internal stakeholders over content matters related to project timeframes

  • Develops internal publishing templates to be used by various audiences

  • Maintains effective working relationships with both external vendors and internal clients

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or communications, marketing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Certification in project management methodology, such as PMP, an asset but not required


  • 5 to 7 years of experience with website governance, information architecture, and copywriting for the web

  • This includes web developer/designer experience, website content management, project management experience, and experience with various web trend technologies in the communication/public relations field.

  • Significant experience over all aspects of website management including architecture, SEO, design, and governance.

  • Experienced in providing web communications and usability advice for online platforms


  • Good knowledge of website maintenance and management, online platforms and content management systems

  • Solid understanding of visual design aesthetics and graphic standards

  • Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Suite products
