First Timers’ Reception

First time at the CPRS National conference? Don’t worry, we don’t bite! In fact, to help break the ice, we’re once again kicking things off with our First Timers’ Reception. So, if you’re a first-time delegate, come join us the night before the program begins to get to know your fellow newbies a bit better, and meet a few influential members of CPRS, including your board of directors and other senior Society leaders.

Hunt and Gather
Starts in the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald lobby.
Finishes at Sherlock Holmes Pub - Downtown (10012-101a Ave)

7 – 9 p.m.
Once you arrive at the beautiful Fairmont, gather with your team and let the hunt begin! Evolve your expectations by joining our scavenger hunt, and share in the laughs and fun as you get to know Alberta’s thriving capital. You may even win some swag!

Morning Mindful Meditation

No matter what you’re expecting to get out of the conference - a break from stress, creative thinking or just getting in the social scene – start each day off right by participating in our mindful meditation sessions! Whether you’re a new or seasoned meditator, everyone is encouraged to begin each day with daily thematic meditation led by seasoned PR professional, Lucie-Anne Fabien, APR, FCPRS.

Mingle with the who’s who of public relations from across Canada, while taking a historical journey through Alberta’s newest gem – the Royal Alberta Museum, where you’ll find 2.4 million uniquely Albertan stories waiting to be told.
Come early to take a self-guided tour of the many exhibits comprising the RAM’s 13 curatorial programs. Then, join us for our opening night reception, where you’ll have the most fun you’ve ever had in a museum, while sampling the best of Edmonton’s eclectic food and entertainment scene.

Morning Run/Walk

Meet in the lobby at 6:45 a.m.

Calling all runners and walkers! Join us for an invigorating start to Evolving Expectations as facilitators take you on your choice of a 5 km run into our river valley or a walk and stretch session to start the conference off on the right foot.
